Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Finance and Accounting team in AR, EOM Entries, and P&L Closings. Daily duties include Audit Exec Checks, Petty Cash, and Adjustment reports, distributing to Guidance Team, and consolidating deposits.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of accounting experience, a post-secondary diploma or degree, and is flexible to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation, with strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Oversee AR and P&L closings.
• Process end-of-month entries (EOM).
• Perform audit checks and petty cash handling.
• Prepare Cash Over/Short reports and balance credit card ledgers.
• Assist with invoice processing and PO matching.

We’re currently searching for a Staff Accountant to support this brilliant Finance and Accounting team in overseeing AR, EOM Entries, and P&L Closings. Audit Exec Checks, Petty Cash, and Adjustment reports daily, distribute to Guidance Team. Compile and distribute hotel “Cash Over/Short” report, & balances credit card ledgers. Prepare daily consolidate deposits of cash received in outlets and by Front Desk. Assist with invoice processing and matching PO’s to invoices for processing Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Achieves and exceeds goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc. Monitors all taxes that apply, ensuring that taxes are current, collected and/or accrued. Maintains a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets. (Inside Tip: if you spend your spare time finding the stories behind the numbers, we should definitely talk.)
