Job summary

Custom Truck One Source is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accurate and timely financial reporting across GAAP. The role collaborates with multiple teams to analyze accounts, prepare entries, and assist with monthly close, bank reconciliations, and audits.

The position is hybrid, located in Overland Park, KS, with potential remote work two days per week. Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, show strong analytical and communication skills, and demonstrate

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• High level of intellectual curiosity regarding breaking down existing processes.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Must possess and demonstrate the highest level of personal integrity and professional judgment.
• Must be able to work in a collaborative and respectful manner with all levels within the organization.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience at a manufacturing or retail company or 1–2 years of experience at an accounting firm.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and imports throughout the month and assist with monthly close.
• Analyze account balances, prepare reconciliations, and propose adjusting entries as needed.
• Prepare, analyze, and research bank reconciliations for both the US and CAN divisions.
• Assess efficiency and effectiveness of business and accounting processes. Investigate best practices, suggest improvements, and assist with implementation of process changes.
• Assist with the year-end audit, providing detailed reconciliations, roll-forwards and analyses of account balances and trends.
• Initiate and maintain process documentation for all areas of responsibility. Update as needed.
• Skillfully use computerized accounting and financial management systems.
• Identify problem areas or situations, evaluate root cause(s), and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
• Other analysis and special projects as assigned.

Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions related to accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and analyzing accounts for accuracy in accordance with GAAP.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Significant experience with continuous improvement around undefined processes
• Strong quantitative and analytical competency
• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley rules, regulations, and practices
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Positive attitude and works well with a team.
• CPA Certification

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role. This job requires the person to work in the Overland Park office, with the possibility of remote work 2 days a week.
