Custom Truck One Source is seeking a Staff Accountant to support GAAP-based financial reporting and analysis. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with monthly closes for multiple divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; strong analytical and communication skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and month-end closings; support monthly close processes.
• Analyze account balances, reconcile accounts, and propose adjusting entries.
• Prepare bank reconciliations for US and CAN divisions and review variances.
• Evaluate processes, identify improvements, and assist with changes.
• Support year-end audit with reconciliations, roll-forwards, and analyses.
• Maintain process documentation and ensure data accuracy across systems.
• Proficient use of computerized accounting and financial management systems.
• Identify root causes of issues and resolve them; participate in special projects.

Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions related to accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and analyzing accounts for accuracy in accordance with GAAP.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and imports throughout the month and assist with monthly close.
• Analyze account balances, prepare reconciliations, and propose adjusting entries as needed.
• Prepare, analyze, and research bank reconciliations for both the US and CAN divisions.
• Assess efficiency and effectiveness of business and accounting processes. Investigate best practices, suggest improvements, and assist with implementation of process changes.
• Assist with the year-end audit, providing detailed reconciliations, roll-forwards and analyses of account balances and trends.
• Initiate and maintain process documentation for all areas of responsibility. Update as needed.
• Skillfully use computerized accounting and financial management systems.
• Identify problem areas or situations, evaluate root cause(s), and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
• Other analysis and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Accounting or Finance.
• High level of intellectual curiosity regarding breaking down existing processes.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Must possess and demonstrate the highest level of personal integrity and professional judgment.
• Must be able to work in a collaborative and respectful manner with all levels within the organization.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Significant experience with continuous improvement around undefined processes
• Strong quantitative and analytical competency
• Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley rules, regulations, and practices
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Positive attitude and works well with a team.
• CPA Certification
• 1-2 years of experience at a manufacturing or retail company or 1-2 years of experience at an accounting firm

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role. This job requires the person to work in the Overland Park office, with the possibility of remote work 2 days a week.
