Job summary

Jobot seeks a Staff Accountant for our nonprofit accounting team in Omaha, Nebraska. The role focuses on maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements.

Are you an experienced, detail-oriented accountant looking for a new challenge? Our company is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals and play a crucial role in our financial operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements. This role requires a high level of precision, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for numbers.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Assist with preparing and distributing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies timely
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to meet deadlines
  • Prepare and reconcile consolidating entries across entities to support accurate reporting
  • Assist with preparing IRS Form 990 and related state filings, including coordinating and integrating consolidated financial information across multiple affiliated entities that file separate returns
  • Support the annual financial statement audit, including preparation of schedules and documentation
  • Coordinate with external auditors and respond to audit requests efficiently
  • Implement process improvements based on audit recommendations and internal review
  • Support accounts receivable and billing processes to ensure timely and correct revenue recording
  • Support accounts payable processing and reconciliations to ensure timely and correct vendor payments
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Partner with Finance team members and other departments to support organizational objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Two or more years of relevant accounting experience is required
  • Experience with accounting software and financial systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, tables, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with GAAP and nonprofit accounting
