Position Overview

We are hiring a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. The position will be responsible for a combination of accounts receivable, accounts payable, company credit card activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end close support. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and other members of Finance to perform accurate, timely accounting work and meet recurring business deadlines. The role requires someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with accounting systems and data, and able to learn new technology quickly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process assigned vendor invoices, including accurate coding, approvals, supporting documentation, and timely entry into the ERP system.
  • Assist with vendor setup, vendor records, Form W 9 documentation, statement reconciliations, payment support, and resolution of routine invoice discrepancies.
  • Manage company credit card activity, including Amex, by collecting supporting documentation, coding and recording charges, reconciling statements, and following up on missing or incomplete information.
  • Support accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing, cash application, aging review, collection follow-up, customer account reconciliations, and research of deductions or discrepancies as assigned.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and assigned general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare recurring and nonrecurring journal entries and maintain supporting schedules for assigned accounts, including prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and other general accounting areas.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close through reconciliations, account analysis, accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting support, audit requests, tax preparation schedules, and other accounting deadlines.
  • Perform other accounting duties and special projects consistent with the Staff Accountant position, as assigned.
  • Maintain organized accounting files and contribute to clear procedures, stronger controls, and practical process improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance and other departments to obtain complete information and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Protect confidential financial, employee, customer, and vendor information.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • At least three years of accounting experience, including practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and close support.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standard accounting controls.
  • Strong technology aptitude and the ability to learn new accounting systems quickly. Experience using an ERP system is required; Acumatica experience is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to organize, analyze, and work accurately with financial data.
  • Experience in consumer products, distribution, wholesale, or a similarly fast-moving environment is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet recurring deadlines without losing accuracy.
  • Highly organized, with a reliable method for tracking open items, supporting documentation, follow up, and completion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Finance and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a coordinated accounting team.
  • Ownership of work product and willingness to research and resolve discrepancies rather than passing them forward.

We strive to foster an environment where all staff can bring their whole selves to work, by their own definition, and we strive to provide all candidates with an equitable and accessible recruitment process.

We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status, or genetics.
