The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This role will report to our Controller and play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and optimizing accounting operations. The Staff Accountant will contribute to managing the general ledger, reconciling accounts, processing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with financial and accounting regulations under U.S. GAAP. This role is hybrid, based in Brooklyn, and will require in-office presence several days per week.

  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Credit Card Receipt & Reconciliation: Process and reconcile credit card transactions in a timely manner.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Cash Account Reconciliation: Perform regular cash reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Accounts Payable: Process invoices, manage vendor payments, and ensure timely disbursements. Monitor AP Balances.
  • Cost Analysis & Financial Strategy: Analyze costs to support budgeting and financial decision-making.
  • System & Process Improvement: Support the transition to Mosaic and enhance existing FP&A, accounting, and financial close processes.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies to ensure sound financial management.

What you bring to AIRCO

  • 4-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a high-growth or fast-paced environment, with a strong background in general ledger management and financial reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) with demonstrated ability to perform cash reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset to manage multiple financial processes accurately.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Experience with Ramp and Mosaic (preferred) or a willingness to learn and adapt to new financial systems.
  • Knowledge of GAAP compliance and internal financial controls

Bonus Points

  • Experience working in a venture-backed startup or cleantech company
  • Participated in an ERP transition or new software implementations
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation (or on the path to becoming a CPA)

Salary Range: $75,000 - $86,000

The approximate annual base compensation range and benefits listed above may vary based on the applicant's experience, skills, abilities, and relevant industry expertise.
