Top NYC Law Firm is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Assist in maintenance of chart accounts.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries to support financial reporting.
• Conduct general ledger analysis, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Perform monthly review of fixed assets, preparing the appropriate depreciation, amortization and asset disposal entries.
• Handle cash applications by accurately applying incoming payments to customer accounts and resolving any discrepancies.
• Support audit preparations, including gathering and organizing necessary documentation.
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
• Assist in variance analysis and provide insights on financial trends.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, Law Firm experience is a plus
• Proficiency in General ledger, balance sheet reconciliation, and monthly journal entries.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Aderant, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
