Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Senior Accountant

Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Accountant who will support day-to-day accounting functions and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. This role plays a key part in the monthly close process, grant and revenue accounting, internal reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate has strong nonprofit accounting experience, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly and year-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate general ledger records, including allocations, accruals, and fixed assets
• Prepare and reconcile grant and donation revenue entries; support compliance with grant requirements
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash activity
• Assist with internal financial reporting and variance analysis
• Support the budgeting process and prepare budget-to-actual reports
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist with audit preparation and inquiries
• Recommend improvements to financial processes and internal controls
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper coding and reporting
• Assist with special projects and system enhancements as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 4–6 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
• Solid understanding of GAAP and fund accounting
• Experience with grant accounting and donor-restricted revenue
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with FundEZ, Bill.com, or similar nonprofit systems a plus
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to meet recurring deadlines independently and accurately
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
