Ascendo Resources is actively seeking a Staff Accountant with retail industry experience for an immediate, full-time, onsite position.

Our client, a renowned global luxury retail firm, is located in New York, NY 10018.

The Staff Accountant will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department related to cash transactions, ultimately leading to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual cash flow reporting. The ideal candidate will have retail accounting and strong sales audit experience.

Hours: Monday – Friday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Responsibilities:

• Review chargebacks deducted from credit card settlements and notify the Loss and Prevention department
• Prepare monthly journal entries for financial statements, including weekly and bi-weekly payroll and bonus accruals
• Prepare monthly gross sales and calculate percentage rent
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts
• Perform general ledger analysis for assigned accounts (e.g., Accounts Receivable for cash and credit card receivables)
• Reconcile monthly and quarterly payroll (ADP vs. AX)
• Download reports from Concur and book T&E reports on a bi-weekly basis
• Rebill intercompany charges
• Assist in the preparation of year-end work papers, journal entries, and support auditors during the year-end audit
• Prepare monthly cash flow reports

Qualifications:

• Proficient in Excel (PivotTables & VLOOKUPs)
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the United States
• Experience with an ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
• Hands-on experience working with general ledgers
• Experience with a digital payment system such as Piteco or any UPI system
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
