Description:

Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has an immediate opening for a full-time Staff Accountant. At HMHD our mission is to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our community and the surrounding area by providing accessible quality healthcare services.

Pay Scale: $25.41-$36.59 per hour

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant assists the Controller with general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, check processing, invoice processing, grant management, surveys and applications, budget process, yearend closing, cost report, audit work papers, and audit engagement.

Essential Functions:

  • Complies with all hospital policies and procedures as applicable for position including employee handbook, department and administrative policies and procedures, goals and objectives for self, department, safety compliance program, HIPAA and confidentiality, accreditation, survey standards, and infection control.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers.
  • Participate in staff meetings and serve on hospital committees/teams as appropriate.
  • Perform work in effective, organized, accountable and competent manner including following oral and written instructions.
  • Be respectful, courteous and caring in all interactions with others.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ownership in performance duties and be a self-starter.
  • Adapt to changing working assignments.
  • Function well under stressful conditions involving other department and workload, etc.
  • Keep knowledge and skills current via education, in-services, networking.
  • Report any area of concern to appropriate person within organization or to the Board of Directors.
  • Perform related duties as needed including assisting others with their work.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accounting procedures in accordance with governing procedures.
  • Responsible for payroll process.
  • Responsible for accounts payable process.
  • Develops budgeting timelines and deadlines and monitors adherence.
  • Prepares necessary worksheets for various revenue and expense projections.
  • Participates in budget meetings with department directors as well as updates budget information in CPSI software.
  • Maintains organized and efficient financial records.
  • Assists Controller in fiscal year end closing process and audit procedures.
  • Prepares various worksheets for necessary completion of annual Medicare cost report.
  • Prepares various annual surveys and applications or renewals.
  • Completes on an accurate and timely basis monthly reconciliations of all cash accounts.
  • Responsible for accurate general ledger expense allocations and making necessary corrections.
  • Completion of monthly standard journal entries on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Completion of various reports and analysis for monthly Board financial reporting.
  • Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts at HMHD.
  • Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
  • Support the Just Culture concept and its use to improve patient safety.
