Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a contract-to-hire role in a manufacturing setting. You will support month-end close, manage labor and payroll accounting, and assist cross-functionally across the plant's accounting operations.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience with manufacturing ERP systems and cost-tracking processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum 2 years of professional accounting experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems and cost-tracking processes.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, analyses and reconciliations.
• Freight & Inventory Reconciliations: Code freight bills and audit unvouchered receipts.
• Payroll & Labor Accounting: Manage labor-related transactions and coordinate with HR/payroll.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Resolve discrepancies with internal/external teams.
• Fixed Assets & Project Accounting: Track costs and record asset acquisitions/disposals.
• Credit Card Processing: Manage credit card transactions and reconciliations.
• Support additional financial requests, reporting, and projects.

Job description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical contract to hire Staff Accountant to join their accounting team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you will play a key part in assisting with the monthly close process, managing labor and payroll‑related accounting activities, and supporting overall accounting operations across the plant.

The ideal candidate brings strong core accounting fundamentals, excellent cross‑departmental communication skills, and hands‑on familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems and cost‑tracking processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in accounting.
• Industry Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing accounting environment is strongly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Excel and ERP/Accounting software systems (experience with IFS is a plus).

Competencies

• Solid mathematical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High level of organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Salary: $29 - $32.5 per hour

Work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM

Key Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, financial analyses, and account reconciliations. Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Freight & Inventory Reconciliations: Review and code all incoming freight bills and audit the unvouchered receipts report for completeness and accuracy.
• Payroll & Labor Accounting: Manage labor‑related transactions, balances, and reporting; serve as the accounting department liaison with HR, payroll staff, and our payroll software provider.
• Cross‑Functional Communication: Interact internally and externally to resolve questions or discrepancies concerning items, quantities, and pricing.
• Fixed Assets & Project Accounting: Monitor project cost compilation and record capital equipment acquisitions and dispositions in the fixed asset database.
• Credit Card Processing: Manage all aspects of credit card transactions, processing, and reconciliations.
• Support additional financial requests, reporting, and projects as needed.
