Job summary

GHJ Search and Staffing is seeking a Staff Accountant for a growing multi-location heavy equipment organization. You will gain broad exposure to general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and close activities while working closely with an experienced Controller.

The role supports accounting across multiple entities and locations, with exposure to equipment sales, rental, parts, and service operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and general ledger accounting.
• ERP or dealership management systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities and locations.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, corrections, and recurring entries.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting.
• Perform bank, credit card, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies and assist with inventory and cost-of-sales accounting.
• Support AP, AR, audit preparation, and tax compliance activities.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Partner with branch and operational teams to resolve accounting questions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, accuracy, and automation.

A growing, multi-location heavy equipment organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who wants broad exposure to general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and close activities while working closely with an experienced Controller.

The Staff Accountant will support accounting across multiple entities and locations, with exposure to equipment sales, rental, parts, and service operations. The role offers the opportunity to build technical accounting skills while contributing to process improvements and supporting financial decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities and locations
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, corrections, and recurring entries
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting
• Perform bank, credit card, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions
• Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience preferred
• Heavy equipment, construction equipment, trucking, automotive, or dealership accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with ERP or dealership management systems is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
