Job summary

GHJ Search and Staffing, the recruitment division of GHJ, seeks an experienced Accounting Manager in Santa Monica, CA. You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, lead the accounting team, and own the close process.

This hands-on role requires a Bachelor’s degree and strong knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting, with prior staff supervision. Temp-to-hire potential with direct collaboration with financial leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on accounting experience with knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Previous experience supervising or leading accounting staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting systems; QuickBooks experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and delegate responsibilities across the accounting team.
• Lead month-end and year-end close and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and related reconciliations.
• Review balance sheet and income statement activity with the Corporate Controller.
• Prepare financial analysis and special reporting for management.
• Oversee ACH payments, wire transfers, and cash activity.
• Prepare payroll journal entries, accruals, and other adjusting entries.
• Support annual budgeting and financial planning.
• Prepare year-end schedules and supporting documentation for the external tax accounting firm.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, accuracy, and efficiency.

A growing organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead its accounting team. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the close process, developing staff, and working closely with financial leadership to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will oversee AP, AR, cash activity, payroll entries, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end reporting. The role combines team supervision with hands-on accounting and financial analysis, making it a strong opportunity for someone ready to take broader ownership of the accounting function.
