Job summary

Addison Group seeks a Staff Accountant for our Chicago nonprofit health organization. You will support general ledger activities, month-end close, reconciliations, and audit prep, handling journal entries and prepaid schedules, and assisting payroll postings from ADP to Sage Intacct.

The role requires a solid accounting foundation, nonprofit experience, and strong Excel skills. Familiarity with Sage Intacct and ADP Workforce Now is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a reputable university.
• Solid accounting foundation with debits, credits, and general ledger knowledge.
• Nonprofit accounting experience required.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Understanding of revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
• Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP).
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
• Detail-oriented and well organized.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close activities, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including revenue recognition and deferrals.
• Download and manipulate payroll data from ADP Workforce Now and prepare and upload corresponding journal entries into Sage Intacct.
• Establish and maintain prepaid expense schedules and related entries.
• Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as needed.
• Support general ledger maintenance and other accounting functions as required.

A nonprofit healthcare organization based in Chicago, Illinois, providing affordable, comprehensive medical care to individuals and families, particularly underserved communities. The organization operates as a federally supported community health center.

Position Overview

The organization is seeking a Staff Accountant with a solid accounting background and nonprofit experience to support general ledger activities, month-end close, account reconciliations, and audit preparation. This individual will be responsible for preparing journal entries, maintaining prepaid expense schedules, and supporting payroll accounting by downloading and manipulating payroll data before preparing and uploading journal entries into the accounting system.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of debits and credits, the ability to recognize and defer revenue appropriately, and the initiative to manage responsibilities independently. Experience with Sage Intacct is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations.

• Experience with Sage Intacct.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
• Grant accounting experience.
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining prepaid expense schedules.
