Job summary

Permobil is seeking a Staff Accountant in Belleville, IL, operating in a hybrid schedule (onsite Thursdays). You’ll support European region accounting, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end reports, and assist with tax returns and audits.

The role requires a bachelor’s in accounting and familiarity with US GAAP/IFRS, ERP systems, and strong Excel skills. This position reports to the SSC EMEA Accounting Manager and emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, process improvement,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• Exposure to US GAAP and IFRS preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
• Organized with good time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly across cultures in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries with calculations and supporting docs.
• Prepare account reconciliations and follow up on variances.
• Run month-end reports and assist with close.
• Compile information for tax returns and audits.
• Provide ad hoc analyses to inform projects/status.
• Support stakeholders and propose solutions to accounting issues.
• Follow internal controls per policy; emphasize cross-functional collaboration.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency.

Your Role in Our Mission

• This role reports to the SSC EMEA Accounting Manager and provides services to the European region. The person in this role will support certain business units (BU) or processes in the Accounting/GL team.
• Preparing journal entries including calculation and supporting documents.
• Prepare account reconciliations and follow up on variances.
• Run reports for month end.
• Compile information for preparation of tax returns and audits.
• Prepare adhoc analysis or data as needed to inform on projects or status of work.
• Support stakeholders by researching questions and proposing solutions to problems impacting accounting.
• Follow internal controls in accordance with policy.
• Highlight cross-functional collaboration and ownership.
• Emphasize continuous improvement and efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Some exposure to US GAAP, European Statutory Audit and IFRS.
• ERP experience.
• Accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Bilingual a plus, not required.
• Organized and manages time to meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Curiosity and desire for continuous learning.
• Able to comprehend basic business situations and apply knowledge to advise accounting treatment.
• Ability to solve standard problems by looking at the fact pattern or process to understand cause and effect.

Pay Transparency

The expected pay range for this role is $54,000.00 – $65,000.00 annually . Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity.
