Job summary

Community Health and Counseling Services in Bangor, Maine, seeks a Staff Accountant to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial resources. With 3–5 years of nonprofit accounting experience, you will manage grant administration and financial reporting, including reimbursements and restricted net asset tracking, in a healthcare

Qualifications

• Three to five years relevant accounting experience.
• Experience with federal and state grant administration and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
• Experience supporting Single Audits.
• Experience with fund accounting and restricted net asset tracking.
• Experience preparing grant reimbursement requests and financial reports for funding agencies.
• Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, human services, or community-based nonprofit organizations.

Job Description

• The Staff Accountant supports the Agency’s mission by ensuring accurate recording, reporting, and stewardship of financial resources. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, grant and contract requirements, donor restrictions, and regulatory obligations. The Staff Accountant assists with general accounting, financial reporting, fund accounting, grant compliance, budgeting, and audit activities while supporting sound fiscal management across the Agency. Working closely with the Finance Director, Finance Department staff, and program leadership, the Staff Accountant helps ensure the Agency’s financial resources are managed responsibly and in alignment with funding requirements, organizational goals, and regulatory standards. Preferred Experience
• Three or more years of nonprofit accounting experience.

Annual Salary Range – $65,000 to $90,000
