Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team and support the Controller in managing the financial operations at Alliance Exterior Solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants hands‑on experience with construction-specific accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, and progress billing.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Help maintain job cost ledgers and track project costs against budgets
• Assist in preparing Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion calculations
• Assist with processing accounts payable, including subcontractor and vendor invoices, lien waivers, and payment applications
• Assist with accounts receivable
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts
• Assist with sales/use tax filings and other regulatory reporting
• Support the Controller in preparing financial statements and internal management reports
• Assist with audits and insurance renewals
• Maintain accurate, organized documentation to support internal controls and audit readiness
• Utilize Sage 100 Contractor, Foundation and other systems to manage job cost records, AP/AR, and reporting
• Perform other accounting duties and ad hoc analysis as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years of accounting experience; construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; hands‑on experience with Sage 100 Contractor (or similar Sage construction accounting platform) strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a deadline-driven close process
• Solid written and verbal communication skills for working with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors
