Job summary

CM Mission Critical Engineering is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including accounts payable, expense processing, payroll support, and month-end close. This role ensures accuracy and timeliness of financial data in alignment with internal controls and operational standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, codes, payments and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review employee expense reports for accuracy and reimburse via payroll.
  • Maintain vendor records, W-9s, ACH details and 1099 preparation support.
  • Assist with semi-monthly payroll processing and validation.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and 401(k) contributions administration.
  • Coordinate with payroll, benefits and retirement plan providers.
  • Prepare and post recurring and ad-hoc journal entries for general ledger maintenance.
  • Maintain prepaid and fixed asset schedules; record monthly amortization and depreciation.
  • Complete balance sheet, general ledger and bank reconciliations; research discrepancies.
  • Support month-end and year-end close with documentation.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals; assist with audits and tax filings.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: CFO

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant supports the day‑to‑day accounting & financial operations of the company. This role manages accounts payable, employee expense processing, payroll support, 401(k) administration, general ledger accounting, & month‑end close activities. Theis role ensures accuracy, timeliness, & secure handling of financial & employee data in alignment with the company’s internal controls & informed operational standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review, code, & process vendor invoices; coordinate approvals, payments, & resolve vendor discrepancies.
  • Review employee expense reports for accuracy, documentation, coding, & policy compliance; process reimbursements through payroll.
  • Maintain vendor records, including W‑9s, ACH details, & required documentation; support annual 1099 preparation.
  • Assist with semi‑monthly payroll processing, including timesheet review, payroll data validation, & discrepancy resolution.
  • Prepare payroll‑related journal entries & reconciliations; support employee & employer 401(k) contribution administration.
  • Coordinate with payroll, benefits, & retirement plan providers; maintain accurate payroll & benefit accounting records.
  • Prepare & post recurring & ad‑hoc journal entries for general ledger maintenance.

Education & Experience:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles & general ledger accounting

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities & meet deadlines

Preferred
  • Previousaccounting experience in a professional services, engineering, architecture, or project-based environment
  • Experience withDeltek Ajeraor another project-based accounting/ERP system
  • Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, & general ledger accounting
  • Familiarity with project billing & accounts receivable
  • Experience with 401(k) administration or coordination
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk & working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
