Job summary

ARCO in Atlanta seeks a Staff Accountant to support the Controller and cross-functional teams. You will reconcile balance sheet accounts, assist with overhead budgets, and prepare journal entries.

You will work with project managers on licenses, close monthly financials, and contribute to cost allocations while meeting tight deadlines. ARCO offers strong benefits and a culture of inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 1–3 years of related experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Vista/Viewpoint Software is a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Work extensively in Microsoft Excel, with spreadsheets with complex formulas and Power Query.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns for various local and state entities.
• Work with controllers and project managers to obtain and renew the appropriate state and local contractor and business licenses.
• Prepare, post, and reconcile a wide range of journal entries, including job cost accruals and adjustments, ensuring accurate cost allocations, proper period recognition, and overall alignment with company financials.
• Work with controllers throughout the month end close process, supporting the preparation and review of financial statements for multiple entities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life

Necessary Qualifications

• Public accounting experience a plus but not required.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Vista/ Viewpoint Software is a plus
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
