Job summary

ARCO is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Kansas City, MO team. You will work closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate month-end close and reporting.

The ideal candidate has a public accounting background, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, strong Excel skills, and experience with Viewpoint or similar ERP. This role offers growth within a family of construction companies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 1-3 years' related experience.
• Public accounting experience a plus.
• General knowledge of payroll concepts and tax withholdings.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience with Viewpoint Software or equivalent ERP system.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Detail oriented and able to work under pressure and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile month-end reports to the general ledger.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets.
• Design and build Excel pivot tables.
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
• Intercompany cash reconciliations bi-weekly.
• Assist with ad hoc requests for controllers.
• Create and verify quarterly reporting for stakeholders.
• Support month-end close and financial statements for multiple entities.

We are looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant to join our team in our Kansas City, MO office. You will work closely with our Controller and many different teams.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Assist controller team in reconciling all month end reports to the general ledger.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets.
• Design and build Microsoft Excel based pivot tables.
• Assist in reconciling bank accounts on a monthly basis
• Assist in intercompany cash reconciliations on a bi-weekly basis
• Assist controller teams with a variety of ad hoc requests as they arise
• Assist in creating and verifying reporting provided quarterly to various stakeholders
• Work with controllers on various aspects of month end close and the preparation of financial statements for multiple entities.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 1-3 years' of related experience.
• Public accounting experience a plus.
• General knowledge of payroll concepts and tax withholdings.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically needing advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Viewpoint Software or an equivalent ERP system.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
