Job summary

Lake Erie College in Mentor, OH is seeking a dedicated Stable Staff member to maintain daily horse care and facility cleanliness. The role requires dependable, safety-conscious individuals with horsemanship experience and the ability to lift 60 lbs and operate farm equipment as needed.

You will feed, water, clean stalls, assist with veterinary and farrier work, and help prepare horses for events. Flexible hours and a team-oriented environment are offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of stalls.
• Feeding and watering of horses, including removing ice and filling water buckets.
• Sweeping aisles, wash racks, breezeways and entryways.
• Lifting/moving bales of hay and bags of shavings and grain.
• Turnouts, including stallions and young/unpredictable horses.
• Handling horses safely: leading, grooming, picking hooves, haltering, blankets.
• Maintaining safety procedures when working with all horses.
• Assisting with/holding horses for vet, dentist or farrier work as assigned.
• Show preparation, including set up of temp stalls and bedding.
• Cleaning the stable, washing walls and stalls, removing cobwebs.
• Performing other tasks as deemed necessary by Stable Staff Supervisor.

Job Location: Mentor, OH 44060, Education Level: None, REPORTS TO: STABLE STAFF SUPERVISORSTATUS: FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT, HOURLY

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of stalls.
• Feeding and watering of horses, including removing ice and filling of water buckets.
• Sweeping of aisles, wash racks, breezeways and entryways.
• Lifting/moving bales of hay and bags of shavings and grain.
• Turnouts, including stallions and young and unpredictable horses.
• Handling a variety of horses safely and with confidence, including leading, grooming, picking hooves, haltering horses and putting horse blankets on and off.
• Maintaining safety procedures when working with all horses.
• Assisting with/holding horses for veterinary, dentist or farrier work, as assigned.
• Show preparation, including set up of temp stalls, distribution of bedding, equipment and horses, etc.
• Cleaning of the stable, including washing walls and stalls, removing cobwebs and general cleaning.
• Performs any other tasks which the Stable Staff Supervisor deems necessary.
