Job summary

PJM Interconnection is seeking a Stability Engineer to perform reliability and dynamic stability analyses for New Services development. The role involves contributing to System Impact Studies, studying transmission reinforcements, and supporting base-case model preparation.

Responsibilities include coordinating with PJM contractors, preparing technical reports, and assisting with planning method enhancements while ensuring compliance with NERC/IEEE standards. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of applicable work experience in power systems.
  • Experience with PSSE, TARA and PSCAD to perform dynamic studies.
  • Familiar with NERC and IEEE standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power system analysis and dynamic stability analysis for System Impact Study reports for New Service Requests.
  • Evaluate transmission system reinforcements to resolve reliability issues identified through analysis.
  • Collaborate with Transmission Owner staff to refine required reinforcements to maintain system reliability.
  • Support data reviews for New Service Requests prior to inclusion in base case model.
  • Create and maintain power flow and dynamics cases and project models used for analysis.
  • Manage multiple projects and coordinate with PJM contractors to delegate and review work.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations of analyses, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Support PJM business practice manual development and communication to stakeholders.
  • Identify and assist with development of new and innovative methods in the planning process.
  • Work with System Planning Division to solve complex engineering problems and resolve coordination issues.
  • Represent PJM on industry committees, task forces, or stakeholder groups.
