Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the safe execution of surgical procedures at the St. Vincent's 119 Clinic. The role involves preparing the operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments, handing instruments to the surgeon, and assisting with patient transport, positioning and draping.

Qualifications

• Requires BLS Provider certification preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Surgical technologist program with clinical component required or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons with hemostasis during surgery.

Education

High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component

Associate's degree or technical degree preferred

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
