Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) seeks a SSDS Software Engineer to design, develop, and test tactical Navy software interfaces. You will work on SSDS, RAM, CIWS data streams and deliver low-latency messaging interfaces at our Arlington, VA site.

The role requires active Secret U.S. clearance, full-time on-site work, and collaboration with the Advanced Capabilities team to meet stringent DoD requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or other STEM field (or equivalent full-time professional experience).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design, development, and management of complex software systems for the DoD.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.
• Strong proficiency in C++ or Java with memory management and real-time constraints.
• Navy Combat Systems exposure: SSDS/RAM/CIWS experience.
• Tactical Networking: DDS and standard network protocols.
• SDLC proficiency and experience with Git/SVN, Jira, Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test high-performance tactical software components in C++ or Java.
• Integrate software with Navy systems and develop interfaces for SSDS, RAM, CIWS.
• Build low-latency interfaces to transport tactical messages over TCP/UDP, DDS, ActiveMQ, Kafka.
• Prototype automated testing solutions and support on-site Navy lab sites.
• Translate Navy weapon specifications into functional test scripts and software requirements.
