Job summary

BNSF Railway in Barstow, CA seeks a highly experienced Special Agent in Charge for the Special Response Team (SRT). You will provide leadership for high‑risk rail security operations, coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies to protect personnel, assets, and critical infrastructure.

This full‑time role requires extensive field experience, willingness to travel frequently, and the ability to manage deployments, training, and after‑action reporting.

Qualifications

• Must meet peace officer commissioning standards in state posted and be commissioned.
• 18 months of successful experience as a full-time peace officer.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including 3+ years in tactical/high-risk roles.
• Prior tactical team experience (SWAT/SRT or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience directly leading police team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and evaluate SRT Special Agents, ensuring readiness and compliance.
• Plan and execute high-risk special operations including warrant service and infrastructure protection.
• Manage daily schedules, deployments, and field operations with real-time awareness.
• Serve as on-scene or tactical commander during deployments, coordinating with federal and local partners.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and departmental policies.
