Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Program Manager for the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program within the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs. The role leads outreach to law enforcement and schools, conducts site monitoring, and provides technical assistance to ensure compliance with program requirements.

Travel within-state is frequent; duties include incident response support and developing guidelines, with collaboration across agencies to maintain an SRO in each eligible school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
• Active Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer certification by LETC with at least five years as SC Class 1 LEO.
• Ability to interpret South Carolina laws, regulations, and policy.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with law enforcement, school districts, and stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality.
• Frequent in-state travel; some overnight travel; flexible hours for events.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and garners support for the SRO Program among law enforcement and school districts.
• Conducts site monitoring/compliance activities and discusses best practices for school safety with law enforcement and schools.
• Provides public protection and conducts enforcement as needed between SRO locations and field duties.
• Manages state funded SRO projects, including on-site monitoring and technical assistance to agency heads and superintendents.
• Coordinates initiatives with the SRO Program and participates in related task forces and workshops.
• Develops SRO guidelines and presents information in workshops for agencies and stakeholders.
• Reviews SRO Program applications and prepares summaries and recommendations for the SC Public Safety Coordinating Council.
• Performs other law enforcement duties during critical incidents and assists with emergencies and events.
