Job summary

Charleston County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina is seeking dedicated individuals to become School Resource Officers (SROs) to safeguard students, staff and schools, combining school-based security with broader law enforcement duties.

As a Deputy Sheriff, you will respond to incidents, protect the learning environment, and support the community during severe weather events while advancing your career within CCSO.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old and a U.S. Citizen.
• A high school graduate or GED; college degree may yield enhanced compensation.
• Minimum of two years of certified law enforcement experience in South Carolina; SRO certification desirable.
• A valid South Carolina driver's license or ability to obtain one.
• Honorable discharge from the military (if applicable).
• Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions; misdemeanors may require expungement.
• No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers.
• No student loans in default status.

Responsibilities

• Protect students, employees and visitors and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Respond to critical incidents and support the community during severe weather events.
• Collaborate with school staff and CCSO to enhance school safety.

Skills

Two years law enforcement experience

SRO certification desirable

U.S. Citizenship
