Job summary

Prometheus Energetics is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to act as the technical authority for solid rocket motor test operations, overseeing design, integration, and lifecycle support of propulsion test infrastructure. The role spans development through flight-test support with an emphasis on safety and data fidelity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, chemical engineering from an accredited university (Associate's degree with 5+ years SRM experience may be considered).
• 4–6 years hands-on propulsion test experience; 7–10+ years for senior with test stand ownership.
• Experience with high-frequency sensors (pressure transducers, load cells, TCs, accelerometers) and DAQ systems.
• U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR/EAR restricted technology).
• Knowledge of explosive safety standards (DoD 4145.26-M) and hazardous material handling.

Responsibilities

• Design, commission, and sustain scalable propulsion test stands and GSE for subscale to production acceptance firings.
• Develop test plans, SOPs, hazard analyses, pre-fire checklists, and countdown sequences.
• Lead Test Conductor duties during energetic operations and supervise countdowns and safety perimeters.
• Analyze test data (pressure, thrust, impulse) and support anomaly investigations (FRACAS/MRB).
• Collaborate with Propulsion, Manufacturing, Quality, and EHS for test-readiness and design-for-testability.
