Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter (Engineer II) to support our SRM Engineering Team. You will create CAD models, drawings, and specifications for propulsion hardware such as motor cases and nozzles, ensuring manufacturability and proper interfaces.

The role involves design integration, configuration control, and close collaboration with engineers across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and 2–4 years' engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Engineering degree required.

Responsibilities

• Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
• Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
• Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
• Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
