Job summary

Critical Solutions is seeking a SRE Splunk Enterprise Administrator to support a federal customer in Norfolk, VA. You will manage distributed Splunk environments across hybrid cloud and on-premises, ensuring secure, compliant operations and reliable data ingestion.

Responsibilities include daily O&M, performance monitoring, incident response, and collaboration with cybersecurity and engineering teams. Must hold active Secret clearance and Splunk Admin certifications; on-site days required.

Qualifications

• Requires active DoD Secret clearance.
• BS degree with relevant experience, or Master's with relevant experience.
• DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification required.
• Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin or Splunk Cloud Certified Admin certification required.
• 3+ years managing Splunk Enterprise v9 in hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.
• Experience with RHEL 8/9 and STIG/compliance frameworks.
• Strong scripting ability in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Ability to work onsite in Norfolk, VA and participate in after-hours/on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain distributed Splunk Enterprise environments (Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders, Deployment Servers).
• Monitor data ingestion, indexing throughput, search performance, and retention.
• Support Splunk Cloud integrations and hybrid operations.
• Maintain dashboards, alerts, and saved searches; document procedures.
• Assist with patches, STIG compliance, and system hardening.
• Contribute to upgrades, migrations, and automation via scripting/CM tools.
• Participate in incident response and root-cause analyses.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams.
