Job summary

Aalyria is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to build the observability platform for satellite networks and ground systems. You will design and implement scalable monitoring, logging, and tracing stacks and drive reliability across distributed systems.

In this role you will work with cloud providers (GCP, AWS), Kubernetes, and IaC tools to mature our production observability. On-call responsibilities are included and security clearances are required.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret (TS/SCI) security clearance.
• 4+ years in an SRE or platform engineering role focusing on observability for large-scale, distributed systems.
• Deep hands-on experience building and scaling observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, Tempo/Jaeger, Honeycomb).
• Strong production-level experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD).
• Proficiency in Go and Python for debugging and tooling.
• Experience defining and managing SLOs, SLIs, and budgets for production services.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Aalyria's centralized observability platform, integrating and scaling metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Define, implement, and manage SLOs, SLIs, and budgets for core products.
• Partner with SWE to implement observability best practices and templates; configure tooling.
• Automate deployment, scaling, and management of the observability stack using IaC and GitOps.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to ensure visibility into Kubernetes, GCP, and AWS environments.
• Develop and lead monitoring, alerting, and incident response strategies with blameless postmortems.
