Job summary

Wayve in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a seasoned SRE Manager to build and lead the Vehicle Software SRE team from the ground up, defining charter, hiring engineers, and establishing a reliability‑driven operating model.

You will work at the intersection of software, hardware, networking, and sensors across a distributed fleet, writing code and guiding critical design reviews to improve fleet safety and scalability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production software systems.
• 3+ years in people leadership with hands-on coding and reviews.
• Proven experience with SLOs, error budgets, and production‑readiness.
• Hands-on coding in C++, Python, or Go with modern tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a new SRE team, staying hands-on as a player‑coach.
• Own reliability strategy for vehicle software across deployment and diagnostics.
• Define production readiness standards, SLIs/SLOs, and release gates.
• Design observability and automation to shorten fault diagnosis and repair.
• Lead incident investigations and strengthen on-call practices.
• Mentor engineers and communicate reliability health to leadership.
