Job summary

PNC is seeking a Software Engineering Manager - Site Reliability Engineering to lead a team responsible for the reliability and scalability of mission-critical platforms powering PNC’s digital experiences. The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong leadership, and collaboration across engineering, infrastructure, and security teams.

Based in Birmingham, AL, with weekly in-office presence required, this role drives proactive reliability and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience with 3+ years in management.
• Strong SRE, production support, or DevOps background.
• Experience leading teams in high-availability environments.
• Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management.
• Hands-on with monitoring, cloud platforms, and automation.
• Excellent communication under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage SRE and related teams; lead, coach, and develop a team of SRE engineers; set clear goals, drive accountability, and foster ownership.
• Provide after-hours operational leadership and on-call support.
• Lead incident management & remediation for major incidents; guide triage, diagnostics, and recovery.
• Provide technical leadership in production support; guide troubleshooting across apps, infra, databases, middleware.
• Drive problem management through RCA efforts and permanent fixes.
• Oversee change management & release execution; ensure safe production changes and post-implementation reviews.
• Advance monitoring, alerting & observability; build dashboards and alerting frameworks, improve signal-to-noise ratio.
