Job summary

PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead critical platforms and drive operational excellence.

You will manage SRE engineers, coordinate incident response, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve reliability and observability across our enterprise data platforms. The role is based in one of several Technology Hub locations including Phoenix, with weekly in-office presence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience and 3+ years of management experience.
• Strong experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Support, or DevOps.
• Proven ability to lead teams in high-availability, enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of incident, problem, and change management frameworks
• Hands-on knowledge of monitoring tools, cloud/infrastructure platforms, and automation
• Experience improving system reliability, observability, and operational maturity
• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead during high-pressure situations.
• Experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra; working knowledge of Elasticsearch, Redis, MQ and Kafka is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead SRE teams; coach and develop engineers; align goals with business objectives.
• Provide after-hours operational leadership and on-call support when needed.
• Lead incident management and remediation across major incidents; communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Guide production support; troubleshoot across applications, infrastructure, and databases.
• Drive root cause analysis and permanent fixes; promote runbooks and knowledge sharing.
• Oversee change management and release execution; ensure risk and rollback planning.
• Advance monitoring and observability; champion tools and alerting frameworks.
• Champion resiliency, scalability, and availability of critical systems.
• Lead a global 24x7 operation; promote automation to reduce toil.
