Job summary

Releady, partnering with a leading healthcare technology company, seeks a Consultant Site Reliability Engineer to instrument products for full observability and drive reliability improvements across teams in a hybrid, United States–based role.

You will design the SRE framework, lead incident response, and contribute code through pull requests using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and cloud CI/CD pipelines to support resilient services in healthcare settings.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership for reliable production systems across multiple teams.
• Hands-on experience fixing root causes in application code.
• Familiarity with Terraform-based CI/CD and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
• Ability to drive adoption of new standards through collaboration and contributions.

Responsibilities

• Design the rotational model for engineers rotating into SRE and evolve it with new product launches.

• Recommend observability and self-healing tooling, preferring open-source solutions.

OVERVIEW

Releady is partnering with a leading healthcare technology company that builds AI-powered platforms for nonprofit and community health plans across the country. As a Consultant Site Reliability Engineer, you will instrument products for full observability, signal reliability issues to development teams early, and increasingly go into the code to fix them yourself. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role in which you will contribute directly through pull requests, help engineers who rotate into the SRE function, and shape the tools and practices of the new organization.

NOTE: Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship. Not eligible for C2C

Employment Type: 6 month - contract-to-hire

Location: Hybrid — 2x/week onsite; San Diego, Long Beach, Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, or Oakland (SF Bay Area)

Compensation: $75 – $85/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES

SRE Framework & Standards

• Establish the SRE framework, production standards, service-level objectives, and error budgets, and replace ITIL-style operational habits with engineering-driven reliability practices.
• Design the rotational model in which product engineers rotate into the SRE function, and grow it as new products launch.

Observability & Hands-On Engineering

• Lead full instrumentation of the first product, covering availability of every critical component, throughput, performance, and quality metrics, using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Go into product codebases to identify root causes and redesign for resilience, delivering fixes directly through pull requests.
• Recommend observability and self-healing tooling, with a strong preference for open-source solutions.

Incident Leadership & Roadmap

• Establish incident response and post-incident learning practices, and give development teams early, actionable reliability signals.
• Shape a roadmap toward automated investigation, automated remediation, and AI-assisted pull requests for resiliency fixes.
• Mentor engineers and partner with security and privacy stakeholders on engineering practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated technical leadership for reliable production systems across multiple engineering teams, grounded in Google-style SRE principles.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python, TypeScript, or Node.js, with a record of fixing root causes in application code.
• Hands-on experience with several observability tools, including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana, and the judgment to recommend best practices from experience.
• Experience with Terraform-based CI/CD and cloud infrastructure; Azure preferred, with AWS or GCP accepted.
• Ability to drive adoption of new standards and to challenge entrenched operational thinking through collaboration and direct contribution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience building an SRE function or an engineer rotation program from scratch.
• Experience with auto-remediation, self-healing systems, or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Experience supporting healthcare, payer technology, or other environments that handle sensitive data.
