EWI Recruitment is seeking a Senior Water Utility Project Manager to lead planning and delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects in a regulated environment.
You will oversee projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external consultants while engaging authorities, customers, landowners, and communities.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Water Utility Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role will oversee projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with agreed objectives. You will manage multiple workstreams, coordinate internal teams and external consultants, and maintain clear communication with operational, engineering, commercial, regulatory, and community stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include developing project scopes, delivery strategies, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and governance reports. You will monitor progress against milestones, costs, quality standards, and performance targets, taking corrective action where required. The role will involve managing design development, technical reviews, contractor performance, change control, procurement activities, and contract administration. You will also ensure that projects comply with relevant water industry regulations, environmental requirements, health and safety standards, asset management principles, and applicable engineering specifications. A strong focus on stakeholder engagement will be essential, including providing clear updates to senior leadership and supporting consultation with customers, authorities, landowners, and affected communities.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience managing major water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects, ideally within a regulated environment. You will bring strong commercial awareness, sound knowledge of project management methodologies, and experience working with engineering consultants, principal contractors, and multidisciplinary delivery teams. Excellent leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills are required, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions in a complex operational setting. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline is desirable. Professional project management accreditation or chartered status would be advantageous.
