Job description

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineering Project Manager to lead the planning, design and delivery of complex water, wastewater, drainage and flood risk management projects. This role will involve managing projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, approvals, construction support and completion. You will work closely with clients, regulators, contractors, technical specialists and community stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, sustainably and to a high professional standard.

Key responsibilities will include developing scopes, programmes, budgets and delivery strategies; coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams; reviewing technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications; and managing project risks, quality, procurement and commercial performance. You will provide technical and strategic advice on water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, flood modelling, stormwater management and related infrastructure. The role will also involve preparing proposals, contributing to business development, maintaining strong client relationships and mentoring less experienced engineers. A strong focus on environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, health and safety and clear communication will be essential.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering or a closely related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering water-related infrastructure or consultancy projects. Professional registration or an equivalent recognised qualification is desirable. You will need proven project management experience, sound commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple priorities within agreed timeframes and budgets. Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, legislation, modelling tools and design practices will be valued. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative approach and the confidence to engage with technical and non-technical audiences are essential. This is an opportunity to contribute to resilient, sustainable projects that deliver lasting benefits for communities and the environment.
