Job description

GFT is seeking a resourceful and engaged Senior Wastewater Engineer, Project Manager with strong technical and project management experience to join our Water Group in Southern California. The position offers flexibility to work from Los Angeles, San Diego, or Irvine, with options to work from our Northern CA offices in Oakland and San Francisco. GFT operates in a hybrid work environment with flexible schedules.

As a Project Manager, you will leverage your technical and management expertise to plan, design, and construct water/wastewater infrastructure within a dynamic team environment. You will mentor junior staff, engage in business development, and lead project teams to meet client requirements related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality. The role emphasizes increasing backlog, project revenue, and profitability with existing and new clients.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Leading project teams in planning, design, and construction administration of municipal and industrial water and wastewater infrastructure facilities.
  2. Engaging with clients, delivering presentations, and coordinating project activities.
  3. Coordinating technical staff and consultants, developing standards, leading meetings, and tracking schedules and budgets.
  4. Communicating effectively with municipalities and regulatory agencies.
  5. Overseeing construction contract management and observation services.
  6. Preparing technical reports and permit applications.
  7. Supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
  8. Demonstrating strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • 15+ years in water/wastewater discipline, designing studies, plans, and specifications.
  • California PE license required.
  • Experience in design, permitting, and construction of treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage, and distribution systems.
  • Proven project management skills, including budget and schedule control.
  • Experience in client relations and business development.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $175,000 - $230,000, dependent on experience and location.
