Job summary

Raytheon, an RTX Business, Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance unit, seeks a Senior Systems Operations Engineer to support mission-critical satellite ground system operations on site in Las Cruces, NM. You will manage baseline software, monitor availability, troubleshoot issues, and generate performance reports for program leadership.

The role requires a STEM degree, 5+ years of experience, and active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience supporting systems engineering, operations, or maintenance activities for complex software or hardware systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems, performing root cause analysis, and supporting operational recovery efforts.
• Experience working independently while making sound technical decisions in an operational environment.
• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to the start date.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Operations Engineer supporting one of our premier programs within Raytheon, an RTX Business, in the Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (SISR) business unit. As part of the Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) organization, you will play a key role in supporting mission‑critical satellite ground system operations. Your experience with operations, troubleshooting, systems integration, and collaboration with government customers and multiple contractor teams will be critical to ensuring system availability and mission success. The work is on‑site in Las Cruces, NM.

What You Will Do

• Experience administering or supporting Linux, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.

• Experience programming or scripting with Java, C++, Python, or similar languages.

• Experience supporting cloud‑based infrastructure and modern computing environments.

• Experience working with Oracle or other enterprise database technologies.

• Experience collaborating with government customers and multi‑contractor engineering teams.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
