Job summary

Lycoming Engines in Williamsport, PA seeks a Sr Supplier Quality Engineer to develop and maintain AS9100–compliant quality systems for aerospace supplier partnerships. The role emphasizes root-cause analysis, CAPA, audits, and collaboration with engineering, production, and supply chain to ensure product quality throughout the life cycle.

Travel to suppliers and leading continuous improvement initiatives are expected as part of delivering high-quality aviation components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related aeronautical field required.
• Minimum five years of experience in Manufacturing/Assembly Operations, Quality, Engineering, and/or Procurement.
• In-depth knowledge of AS9100 standards and FAA regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain AS9100–compliant quality assurance protocols and procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address non-conformances and improve product quality.
• Perform internal audits to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as AS9100.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, control plans, and quality reports.
• Utilize advanced quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and Value Stream Mapping to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
• Provide training and support to team members on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
• Support new product development and introduction processes to ensure quality requirements are met from concept to production.
• Lead and participate in improvement projects and initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related Aeronautical technical field required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in Manufacturing/Assembly Operations, Quality, Engineering, and/or Procurement.
• In-depth knowledge of AS9100 standards and FAA regulatory requirements.

Ability and willingness to travel to suppliers as needed (50-75%).

• Proficiency in advanced quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Value Stream Mapping.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• ASQ (American Society for Quality) Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer, and/or Certified Quality Auditor certification preferred.
• Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
• Proficiency with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) .
• Familiarity with manufacturing statistical methods, including process capability, Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility), probability, and statistical inference.
