Job description

Job Description

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for providing designs, analyses, and consulting for a variety of building and non-building structures supporting DOE/NNSA and commercial nuclear projects and missions.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate structural engineering and multi-disciplinary team/design projects during the planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications related to seismic and wind analyses, foundation design, structural framing analyses, and bracing analyses.
  • Perform analysis using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate structures.
  • Conduct construction document reviews as required.
  • Perform facility walkdowns as needed.
  • Coordinate and iterate design efforts with other engineering disciplines and customer stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality assurance requirements, conforming to the company's Quality Assurance Program and/or regulatory requirements from other U.S. government agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 3+ years of design or field experience.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting applications.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with structural analysis hand calculations and FEA software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000).
  • 2+ years of experience in specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related engineering phases.
  • Experience in renovating/modifying existing facilities is a plus.
  • Experience in DOE/NNSA or commercial nuclear industries is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
Additional Skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle conflicts and stressful situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, TEAMS).
