Job summary

D&H Distributing Co. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant for a hybrid role, centrally located within 60 miles of Harrisburg, PA or Clearwater, FL. The position supports financial reporting, GL analysis, and month-end processes in a collaborative, employee-owned environment.

Primary responsibilities include general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and budget analysis, with exposure to vendor and customer rebate programs. CPA is a plus and 5–10 years of accounting experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
• CPA is a plus.
• 5–10 years of accounting experience in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports and GL account analysis.
• Reconcile subsidiary ledgers (AP/AR).
• General ledger configuration and maintenance.
• General ledger account and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and review journal entries.
• Assist with budget preparation along with variance research.
• Develop, administer and monitor accounting processes, policies and procedures.
• Support rebate program accounting and reporting, including volume-based and promotional incentives.
• Review rebate contracts for accurate interpretation and compliance.

Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant assumes responsibility for various accounting functions such as financial reporting and development, general ledger analysis, accounting process analysis, and coordinating the monthly close process.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of Financial reports and GL account analysis.
• Reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers such as Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable.
• General ledger configuration and maintenance.
• General ledger account and bank reconciliations.
• Preparation and review of Journal Entries.
• Assist with budget preparation along with research of budget variances.
• Developing, administering and monitoring accounting processes, policies and procedures.
• Quick resolution of accounting challenges.
• Serve as a resource to Finance team as well as other departments.
• Special Projects as assigned.
• Supports accounting and financial reporting for vendor and customer rebate programs, including volume‑based and promotional incentives.
• Responsible for reviewing agreements, calculating and recording accruals, reconciling balances, and partnering with sales and purchasing to ensure accurate financial results and margin reporting.
• Reviews and audits rebate contracts to ensure accurate interpretation and compliance, tracks program performance against contractual terms, and identifies variances and improvement opportunities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is a plus
• CPA is a plus.
• 5-10 years of accounting experience in a professional environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Familiarity with ERP accounting systems.

• Knowledge of accounting for vendor and customer rebate programs in a distribution environment, including volume‑based and promotional incentives
• Ability to review and audit rebate contracts for accurate interpretation and compliance
