Summary

The position is embedded in the division and will provide technical health and safety guidance and leadership on various personal safety topics within a safety-first culture. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and engagement skills, as well as the ability to write professional reports and prepare presentations for dissemination to both division and corporate audiences. Total travel should be approximately 20 to 30%.

Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a health and safety technical professional for the assigned area, supporting daily operations and maintenance activities.
2. Interpret state and federal regulations and directives.
3. Collaborate with the assigned area and division to implement safety and health policies, procedures, and support continuous improvement.
4. Lead and support monthly safety meetings, maintaining records.
5. Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety and health training in accordance with 29 CFR 1910 and related regulations.
6. Act as lead investigator, facilitator, or subject matter expert in incident investigations, with experience in root cause analysis and drafting corrective actions.
7. Support asset health & safety and process safety management (PSM) audits.
8. Conduct safety compliance field audits and communicate findings to management.
9. Coordinate industrial hygiene efforts, including exposure monitoring and assessments.
10. Attend customer safety functions and act as the company safety representative across multiple areas.
11. Prepare reports and presentations for various audiences.
12. Engage with local communities to maintain positive relations.
13. Serve as a subject matter expert on local policies and procedures.
14. Mentor operations personnel in safe work practices.
15. Assess compliance with customer safety requirements and develop remedial plans.
16. Assist operational staff in implementing safety measures.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent with 8+ years of relevant experience. A Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in industrial safety and health or a related technical field is preferred.

• Ability to work outdoors and in an office environment.
• Capability to perform under stressful or hazardous conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Sound judgment and knowledge of safety rules.
• Proficiency in MS Office and internal database systems.
• Dependability and positive work performance record.
• Strong customer relations and organizational skills.
• Reliable contact means for call-outs.
• Willingness to work days, nights, holidays in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Self-starter with good time management skills.

Working Conditions:

Typical office environment, with ability to remain stationary for periods, and occasional overnight travel. Must work in all weather conditions as required.
