Job Description:

Aerojet Rocketdyne, a segment of L3Harris, is seeking Tool Design Engineers to join our state-of-the-art facilities at our Camden, AR location, the forefront of innovation, producing and developing a variety of energetic assemblies essential for rocket propulsion. The Tool Design Engineer will develop manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. They will actively participate with engineering project teams to coordinate the release of new products. Responsibilities include designing manufacturing tooling for solid fuel rocket motors and warheads, developing jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment for casting and assembly, and designing major components or system parts to improve manufacturing and product quality. Utilize CAD tools to develop layouts, sketches, and proposals, and investigate design factors such as manufacturability, material availability, interchangeability, strength-to-weight ratio, cost, and compliance with specifications.

Essential Functions:
  1. Manage complex projects or processes with general oversight, demonstrating strong knowledge of job area and broad project management skills.
  2. Communicate effectively within and outside of own function to facilitate operational cooperation.
  3. Implement moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes.
  4. Contribute to departmental goals and operational plans impacting results.
  5. Design mechanical equipment using PTC Creo and Windchill.
  6. Collaborate with production, program management, and safety teams to develop requirements and tooling needs.
  7. Identify existing equipment issues, and design repairs and modifications.
  8. Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 6 years of design engineering experience; or a Graduate Degree with at least 4 years of experience; or 10 years of experience without a degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience designing tooling for manufacturing support.
  • At least 2 years of experience using solid modeling software such as Unigraphics NX, Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD Inventor, Catia, CREO, or SolidWorks.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience in the defense industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of air control systems is beneficial.
