Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a software engineer to develop, test, and maintain our core product applications, leveraging Java/Spring Boot, AWS, and modern DevOps practices. You will collaborate with teammates to deliver backend capabilities, write automated tests, and contribute to secure software engineering.

Responsibilities include working on complex features, managing source code with Git, reviewing pull requests, querying data with SQL, and implementing RESTful services within a CI/CD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient with Spring/Spring Boot and RESTful design.

Job Description

Overall Purpose

Develops, documents, tests, debugs and maintains software product applications; provides expertise and familiarity in software tools, frameworks and best practices in secure software engineering. Collaborates effectively with other members of the team to deliver on the team's backlog.

Essential Functions

• Participates in the discussion and implementation around complex capabilities.
• Develops complex features and capabilities to enhance the Early Warning core product offerings.
• Managing source code using Git.
• Receiving, reviewing, and approving pull requests ensuring that code quality remains high.
• Querying platform data using SQL-based DBs.
• Working on complex Java Web Services using Spring Boot.
• Document complex details and decisions in Confluence.
• Building automated tests alongside sprint work that is integrated into the CI/CD pipeline, considering environment variables, and providing recommendations.
• Able to troubleshoot complex bugs that may arise during development.
• Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and/ or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years direct experience in Software Engineering or related experience.
• Spring / Spring boot framework is required.
• Recent experience with AWS Cloud.
• Experience Python, Spark or PySpark.
• Proficient with SQL.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices.
• Proficient with Git source control and Git flow branching model.
• Familiarity writing automated tests.
• Proficient in RESTful service design.
• Experience with Docker/ Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.
• Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Big Data platforms (Hadoop/Hive, etc)
• Experience with REST or SOAP services.
• Familiar working with common data format standards like XML, JSON, YAML, etc.
• NoSQL experience (Redis, HBASE, AeroSpike, etc.)
• FinTech experience is highly beneficial

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in: Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL / Washington, DC in USD per year is: $118,000 - $152,000.

Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
