Overview

At Early Warning, we have powered and protected the U.S. financial system for over thirty years with cutting‑edge solutions like Zelle, Paze, and other payments solutions. Positions are located in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York and follow a hybrid work model to promote collaboration. Responsibilities
  • Participate in designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging new and existing software systems and applications.
  • Design and implement backend services supporting cross‑border transaction processing, settlement workflows, and partner integrations.
  • Develop and maintain software that meets security, resiliency, and compliance requirements for global payment systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to implement scalable solutions for high‑volume, distributed financial systems.
  • Contribute throughout the development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, and writing technical specifications.
  • Support and document software functionality, assist in writing test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation.
  • Analyze code to identify errors and revise programs as needed.
  • Provide critical input in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Consult with end users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
  • Comply with all security policies and procedures to maintain system and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Desired Skills
  • Automation – proficiency with Unix/Linux command line programs, scripting, and automated deployment scripts.
  • Design – prepare detailed design documents, demonstrate OOA/OOD skills, and understand distributed, component‑based architecture.
  • Reporting – familiarity with tools such as Crystal Reports, Jasper Reports, BIRT, etc., and general understanding of software environments and network topologies.
  • Programming – 2+ years of experience in Java, C#, C++, Objective‑C, or Swift; competent in SQL or PL/SQL and relational databases.
  • Security – experience with secure programming techniques; ability to perform code reviews to meet acceptance criteria.
  • Testing – maintain test scripts, prepare test strategies, plans, and cases; experience with automated functional testing frameworks such as Cucumber and Selenium; knowledge of unit, functional, load, UI, performance, regression, and system integration testing.
  • Mobile Development – 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, and unit testing mobile applications, with understanding of multi‑threading and networking protocols.
  • Web Development – 2+ years of experience with HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, JSON, and REST; 3+ years with web and application servers such as IIS, Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss, GlassFish.
  • Additional Languages – experience with C#, Ruby, Python, or PHP is a plus.
  • Agile/Lean – collaboration experience, ability to estimate project activities, elicit user requirements, mentor engineers, and support iterative development.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or 2+ years of industry experience; experience building or supporting payment systems, financial services platforms, or other highly available, regulated distributed systems; familiarity with cross‑border payment flows, digital assets, or blockchain‑enabled technologies and associated security and compliance considerations.

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily sedentary, requiring extensive computer use and sitting for periods up to four hours. Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching may be required. Lift up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible force frequently. Must have visual acuity and dexterity for manipulating documents and office equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay: Phoenix, AZ and Chicago, IL – $97,000 to $124,000 per year; San Francisco, CA – $116,000 to $149,000 per year. Candidates may also be eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and a range of benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, paid time off, parental leave, and additional family‑planning support.
