Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Principal Software Engineer for the Solipsys/Collins Aerospace team at the Fulton, MD facility. You will drive design, architecture, and development of real-time software systems in an agile environment.

The role requires strong OO programming with Java or C++, and hands-on experience with GraphQL, REST, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and Typescript. You will collaborate with customers and teams and may travel for demos and integration.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java or C++ with OO design fundamentals.
• Typically requires STEM degree with 3–5 years of experience or an advanced degree with 2–4 years.
• Security clearance eligibility and U.S. citizenship are required.

This is an onsite role at our Fulton MD facility

What You Will Do

• Design, architect and code critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
• Develop innovative new features for a new real-time situational awareness Command & Control (C2) systems.
• Work in a highly collaborate team environment to design, architect and innovate software solutions.
• Engage & build positive relationships with both customers as well as internal & external employees.
• Travel to customer sites for demos, integration and support.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Relevant work experience in software development using object oriented programming languages such as Java or C++.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Strong computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, information retrieval. Relevant work experience with full life cycle development including exposure to software requirements, design, development, debug and test.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

• Direct hands on individual experience with GraphQL, REST, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Postgresql, Docker, Kubernetes, Angular, Typescript, HTML/CSS, among many other programming languages and related technologies.
• Relevant work experience in software development using object oriented paradigms and multithreaded systems.
• Experience with Container Orchestration implementation such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
