We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in developing high-performance visualizations for bioinformatics teams. The ideal candidate will be proficient in TypeScript and other full-stack technologies, with strong backend experience in Java, Python, or Rust. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing scalable, intuitive visualization tools that enable researchers to interpret biological datasets effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop interactive visualizations for bioinformatics applications.
• Implement scalable and efficient full-stack solutions using TypeScript and modern web frameworks.
• Develop backend services in Java, Python, or Rust to support data-intensive applications.
• Collaborate closely with bioinformatics researchers to understand their visualization needs.
• Optimize application performance and ensure seamless data processing.
• Maintain code quality through best practices, testing, and documentation.
• Stay up to date with the latest technologies and best practices in data visualization and bioinformatics.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on data visualization.
• Expertise in TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular).
• Strong backend development skills in Java, Python, or Rust.
• Experience working with large datasets and bioinformatics tools.
• Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and database technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Exposure to D3.js, Chart.js, or similar visualization tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with D3.js or other visualization libraries.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics pipelines and data formats.
• Experience in deploying applications in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Background in computational biology, genomics, or related fields.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Software Engineer -- Bioinformatics Visualization role based in the United States of America is: $126,800 - $190,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
