Description
The Sr. Shipping & Receiving Associate prepares and executes outbound shipments and receives inbound finished goods
and raw materials. Under the direction of Warehouse leadership, the Sr. associate must exhibit advanced levels of
Execution and Efficiency. This role serves as a designated trainer for standardized tasks and understands the importance
of utilizing Standard Operating Procedures and the ability to initiate updates through Warehouse Leadership. The Senior
Shipping & Receiving Associate must demonstrate an advanced understanding of Warehouse Operations in a Specialty
Chemicals environment including cGMP training, Inventory Slotting and Strategy, and Warehouse Management System
activity. The Sr. Associate must work cross-functionally with each group in the Warehouse to best manage priorities.
Duties & Responsibilities

- Executes customer orders in alignment with SOPs and ERP generated documents: “On Test, On Paper, On Time”
- Demonstrates Mastery Level of packaging and craftmanship
- Proficient in Dry Van & Container Loading: Wheel Chocking, Axle-weight distribution, securing, and sealing
- Exhibits thorough knowledge of Top 20 Customers / Product requirements
- Proficient in handling paper-based processes, i.e. Finished Goods Transfer Sheets, Raw Material Receiving Forms
- Able to manage emergency situations such as shelter-in-place, exposure awareness, plant evacuation, etc.
- Wears PPE as established and monitors others for compliance
- Regular contributor for Safety/ Gemba Walks to highlight improvement opportunities
- Understands the general scope of each operating group in the warehouse
- Navigate the Shared drive to access shipment documents
- Regular communication with Supply Chain departments i.e. Purchasing, Customer Service
- Provides Training and Assistance as needed / assigned by Leadership
- Promotes Solution based communication to enhance overall team morale and compliance
Analytical Ability/Problem Solving/Technical skills
- Must have good verbal and written communication abilities and good analytical abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
- Basic computer knowledge required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to safely operate forklift, reach truck, and other equipment for transporting materials onsite
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Demonstrates a high degree of honesty, integrity, and work ethic
Level of Supervision Needed
- Ability to work independently with a moderate level of supervision
Autonomy and Supervisory/Lead Responsibility
- Requires minimum direction from Warehouse Supervisor/ Warehouse Manager
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Associate’s or a 2 year degree preferred
- 10 years’ warehouse experience required. 2-3 years in a Chemical Manufacturing company preferred
- No controllable customer complaints in the last 18 months
- No controllable safety incidents in the last 24 months
- Shipping DOT hazmat training, experience in Shipping and Receiving or Inventory Control preferred
Safety/Essential Functions
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must complete Department of Transportation (DOT), International Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) and International Air Transport
- Association (IATA) training within the first 30 days and maintain certifications
- Must Demonstrate computer skills necessary to complete the training and execute tasks
- Must be Halocarbon – certified to operate the forklift
- Must be capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs and ladders; use equipment within its design limits
- Must be capable of working in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- Must be able to use all available or assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools
- Must be able to work in an environment where chemical odors may exist at permissible threshold limits of exposure
- In the event of an emergency or drill; must be able to evacuate the plant, reporting to appropriate assigned muster point
