Job summary

Sanofi in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to lead solid-state characterization, focusing on polymorphism and salt studies within the Global CMC Development group. You will drive physical characterization using XRPD, DSC, TGA, SEM, Raman, IR, and automation tools, collaborating across development teams.

The role combines scientific leadership with AI-enabled data analytics to inform formulation decisions.

Qualifications

PhD with minimum 3 years postdoc in pharma/biopharma environment.
Experience with solid-state characterization instruments XRPD, DSC, TGA.
Expertise in polymorphism and salt selection; understanding of powder and particle properties.
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical solid-state properties.

Responsibilities

Lead polymorphism studies for synthetic molecules, including polymorph screening, in-depth physical characterization and thermodynamic assessment.
Design and conduct salt selection studies (salt screening, in-depth physical characterization and stability assessment).
Act as the solid-state representative on development projects to deploy solid-form selection strategy with cross-function collaboration.
Develop and implement analytical methods using XRPD, DSC, TGA, SEM, Raman, IR, and laser granulometry.
Provide physical characterization support to internal partner teams.
Use computational tools to perform Crystal Structure Prediction studies and generate technical reports independently.
Develop effective collaborations within project teams and between analytical groups.
Introduce innovative analytical approaches including automation and AI/modeling integration.
